EHES aims to carry out an active assessment by examining the health status of the population using at national level the methodology applied at European Union level. Conducting a prevalence survey for health monitoring will provide quantitative information on the prevalence of major risk factors, especially for noncommunicable diseases in Romania. Based on the results of the survey, it will be possible to establish the real needs for medical services for the insured and uninsured population and achieve a better financial allocation of limited resources. The study will include 2 large age groups: adults (based on the EU methodology) and children (adapting the EU adult methodology). The study will include: – translation of European documents; – elaboration and development of the study methodology; – designing a representative sample for children; – providing initial training for interview operators; – organizing two consensus workshops to agree on the methodology and implementation of EHES, with the participation of clinical and public health specialists; – investigation of a number of 4500 people, 2000 children, by doctors from 120 family doctors’ offices; – performing clinical and laboratory examinations; – creation of a validated database and their analysis; – preparation of two reports and their printing (one for the survey of adults and the other of children).<\/p>\n
